FLOYD INTRODUCTION: Most people know what a hostel is: inexpensive dormitory accommodations for adult international backpackers and budget travelers. A "CREW HOUSE" is similar with the exception that people at a crew house are seeking jobs on yachts or cruise ships and are registered with some nearby international CREW PLACEMENT AGENCY. Here at Floyd's we combine both hostel and crew house, plus often have private motel rooms as well. We do not normally take advance reservations but we do expect to have beds available on any given date. We request people to call us one or two days prior to their arrival so we can give them a better idea of what is available. First come, first served. Quiet, friendly, inexpensive, home-like hostel catering to international travelers and yacht crew people looking for work on boats, yachts and ships. Non-smoking dormitories. We are located in the southeast section of Fort Lauderdale within walking distance to shopping centers, supermarkets, entertainment, night clubs, marinas, crew placement agencies, bus lines, etc. This is not a place for noisy, all-night parties. Absolutely no illegal drug use tolerated. The staff is very helpful and accommodating, especially to those travelers who are new to America. We are very safety and security conscious. Our guests to date have been very positive about their stay at Floyd's Hostel and Crew House. At Floyd's Hostel and Crew House we give preference to international backpackers arriving from overseas or touring America. Passport is required to check in, including from Americans and Canadians.
